Hello, Bought a 9 n and it was seized .Could'nt free it so I had to remove oil pan to inspect.Disconected connecting rod on #4 and she turned. So I tapped #4 free, sprayed ever thing with PB Blaster penatrate liberally and cleaned.Sprayed sticky valves.Did not remove any pistons.Looked @ 2 bearings #4 had some scoring #1 like new.Reassembled with new pan gasket head gasket, complete tune up,new 12volt alt.kit with wiring harness, volt meter, key switch, battery.Carb was bad cleaned it thouroghly twice.Gapped pionts and plugs.set fireing order 1243.Would not start.Tested copression dry 80 70 50 50.when im done here on the computer I will test wet to see if its valves or rings learned that today.I hope its rings.when i test them wet maybe the spray will help free them if thats the trouble.I have to spend on back rims and tires and dont want to get to deep in motor. This was my first motor take down.maybe i should have done more when it was apart. Will take down again if i have to and maybe only replace parts that need it ifn I cant get it to run. Will apreciate any advice . Thank you Richard

I agree with Dell he is good with these Ns but I'd also do something else that some think is crazy but I've done it for years and seems to work very well. After you have oiled up the cylinders like Dell said start it up with no coolant in the rad. and let it get warm not hot just good and warm shut it down and let it cool. Seems that when you do that to an old engine with stuck rings it makes them pop out like they should.

Richard..... ....yep, sounds like you've got sticky rings. A good soaking with Marvel Mystery Oil (read instructions on can) and turn the engine over by hand several times a day for a week can do wonders for stuck rings. $5 cheap..... ...Dell
