Hello All,
Well, this Weekend, finally got around to replacing the head Gasket on the 8N, after removing all the Head Bolts and the Oil Filter Housing, now I can't get the Head Loose. How in the World do you get these things loose? I don't have anything to grab onto.
HELP!!!!!
Thanks All in advance,
Rick

I read in a tractor restoration book that you can remove all the bolts, leave the two spark plugs on the ends (cylinders 1 and 4) screwed in, then turn her over a few times. The compression should pop it loose.

There is a close tolerance fit between the head bolts (or studs) and the holes in the head. If You try to pry up on it and it gets cocked even the slightest bit, it will bind up on the studs. Just wiggle it back and forth all around and it should come up. Of course, this is after you have broken the seal of the gasket...To get the head loose from the block, do as Dell suggested.

Rick..... ...thats the problem with using pucky onnna headgasket, they stick but don't leak.

Simple to remove. Stuff some soft 1/4" rope down any sparkie hole and turn your front crankshaft bolt or hit yer electric starter for a grunt..... .works everytime..... ...Dell
