Does anyone know where I may be able to find a 1 1/8 pto shaft? Thanks in advance.

Opie, I just bought a new 1 and3/8 and it is still in the box. When it warms up I'm going to put it in and take out my old 1 1/8 shaft bearing seal and all. I will admit the old shaft leaks just a little bit of oil but not much. I only bought the new one because I'm putting on a new ORC and just decided to update the tractor. The bearing seems to be in good condition. I live in north-central Missouri. (Brookfield)

I got lucky and found an adaptter for mine.
It consists of two parts. One is a reducer for the shaft itself. It's about 5" long. The other part is a cast iron extension for the belt pulley where it bolts onto the tractor. It moves the belt pully out about 3 1/2".
They are out there so if you keep your eyes peeled you might get lucky.
Also, Ford did make belt pulleys for the hundred series and newer tractors. They had the 1 3/8"
spline.

To those wondering why I am seeking a 1 1/8 pto shaft. I have a handful of belt driven implements and I would like to power them with my 8n. My 8n however has the "new" 1 3/8 pto shaft so will not accept the belt pulley attachment. Switching it out with the 1 1/8 pto shaft should allow the belt pulley attachment to bolt right on over the splines and hence run my implemtents.

I have never seen a new 1-1/8 PTO shaft for sale anywhere at any of the normal parts suppliers. They are not made anymore as the 1-3/8 has been standardized. I had to get one from a junkyard. I got it for a slightly better price than the smith's, but theirs has better splines than mine. What I'm trying to say is they don't make them new anymore. You have to find good condition used or NOS.

How about this for a thought. Buy a new 1 3/8 pto shaft, and take it to a machine shop and have them mill it to 1 1/8 .. you'll get the benefit of new seals/bearings, and a new non/worn shaft.. and the small spline.... in effect.. a 'new' 1 1/8 shaft.

Hows that for an idea...

Interesting....definately could be done but most likely cost prohibitive. You can't just turn the OD of the splines down to 1-1/8, you have to take the inside of the splines down with it. There are special shapers and hobbs used to do splines and gear teeth and such, so it's more complicated than just turning it down. I suppose you could get an old 1-3/8 shaft and recycle it to a 1-1/8 but i'd like to see a quote from the machine shop first. Cool suggestion, though.

I realize it is not just the OD that needs milled, but the gear lands re-shaped as well.

We have a machinest that works on our hard to find equipment, and he has made us splined male and female shafts often.

As far as cost prohibitive... Considering a 'new' 1 1/8 does not exist... the cost of having one machined would have to be weighed against how bad the individual needs it.

Probably cheaper to machine than to buy a NOS one if you could find it.

I would have said thru this site but I see they only have 1&3/8. You don't want to convert? New Holland doesn't have them?
