Replacing rings on a preveous 8N rebuild. Has 4 ring pistons in it, 5/32 one piece oil ring below wrist pin. Got new tisco rings from local tisco dealer and opened the box to find only three rings. My first thought was they orderd/sent three ring piston set by mistake but noticed the box says "replacement", below that is part number 8N6149A5 and another sticker says RST6. The rings appear to be identical to the old rings with the exception of the missing one piece lower oil ring. Does any one knnow for sure if it is intended to use the top three rings and leave the bottom ring (below piston pin) off ? I dont see that it would make a difference as the three piece oil control ring (third groove)is there to do its job. I ask because I would like to assmeble now rather than wait till monday to check with the dealer.

Rick, I know how you feel wanting to get the job done, but I would rather get the proper ring set then to take a chance that the rings may be designed just enough differently from the four ring set that a problem may develope shortly after all of the reassembly.
