Yesterday I got in some serious seat time, brush hogged a couple of acres of tumble weeds and sage brush. Warm here in southern cal short sleeve tee shirts 70 degrees. Getting 50 8n ready to move back to America (arkansas), old girl runs great but has a noise while turning to the left. Sounds like sqeaky brake spring, tractor hasn't ran in couple years, figured with time it would stop. What do you guys think? thanks

Where about's in Arkansas are you moving to. I lived there for many years and loved most of it, even though I lived in Little Rock, I loved the state, the folks, the fishing at Calico Rock.

I live down on the 35, South of Benton. Real AR address - turn up a gravel path. Same here - people are real friendly, dont have a lot but will willingly give it to you. I thank God everyday for placing us where he has.

Norman

Norman AR Glad to hear that Benton is a nice place to live! My buddy from extreme Northern California bought a house there and will be living there real soon. He's the one that GAVE me his old 9N. I'll have to visit him and see what you guys are bragging about.

Herb D

P.S. Then I'll have to go up to New Blaine to visit another friend.

Amen Norman, My wife's asma is real bad here in California, so were moving to Arkansas. I was born there 50 years ago. I will have to take a big cut in pay but we know the Lord will provide. As you said typical Arky address about a mile up the gravel road, great neighbors and lots of piece and quiet.

If you have 16" front tires, might want to check and make sure that the tire isn't rubbing against the tie rod or radius rod. Check the seat spring? Bearing going bad? Seems very unusual to only make a noise while turning in one direction only and doesn't make it when going straight or turning in the other direction. Are you using brakes to assist in turning?

No Jeb not using brakes for turning, only while turning left and sounds like spring or brake draging. Brake does'nt grab and noise isn't terribly loud, what do you think??

All I could say is try to isolate the noise. Where is it coming from; front, middle, back, left side, right side? You said it hasn't been running in a while...are you towing it? If you are towing it around the yard, ask the tow person to drive really slow and try to walk around the tractor "listening" to it and isolate where the noise is coming from. Anything in the rear end should make noise while turning in either direction (like a loose hub with a dragging brake). The only thing that changes when you turn is the steering column parts and front wheels.
