Todd..... ....ammeters indicate the direction of electron flow (+) or (-) and how many electrons (AMPS) are flowing. Ammeters don't care about volts. Center reading ammeters don't care about direction BUT YOU CARE!!! Traditionally, a (+) ammeter reading indicates you are CHARGING the electrical storage device called BATTERY. Your battery don't care, positive or negative ground, your ammeter don't care, positive or negative ground BUT your alternator ABSOLUTELY DEMANDS NEGATIVE BATTERY GROUND. (its the solid state gutts of alternator's built-in voltage regulator, ya know) Therefore, you want ALL your electrical power going into and outta the battery to go thru your ammeter. That is why you have 2-terminals. One's a gozzinnta and the other's a cummsoutta. And if'n you know you're supposta be chargin' (+) the battery and the meter is readin' (-), just swap the wire connections on the back of the meter. Simple, eh? And thats the answer to:....."Reverse Wires on AMP Meter". I don't understand this" You write....."Problem: My Ammeter doesn't show charging, Must it be grounded?".....NO grounding You write....."Problem: Instruction shows that the "Red & White" runs from the starter swith to the negative port on Ammeter, Where does the white wire go to...I am confused".....me too..... You don't suppose that the instructions are talking about a red wire with a white tracer, do you? I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife..... ..respectfully, Dell A 12 volt advocate for the right reasons
