Had a guy ask me today if he could make his 3 point live on an 8N, it has the side dist. I couldn't tell him for sure, I never use my 3 point on my 8N, sort of hard to do with that backhoe on its butt, LOL. But any way he wanted me to ask can you put a frontpump on or something like that and hook it up to the 3 point system that is on the tractor????

I just installed a 12 volt conversion kit to my old 9N. I have one questions and two problems.

A. Instructions received with my conversion kit advise " Reverse Wires on AMP Meter. I don't understand this. I installed a new 12 volt Ammetter with my Conversion kit.

Problem: My Ammeter doesn't show charging, Must it be grounded?

Problem: Instruction shows that the "Red & White" runs from the starter swith to the negative port on Ammeter, Where does the white wire go to...I am confused.

Surely appreciate any help you may render with my old problem.

Todd..... ....ammeters indicate the direction of electron flow (+) or (-) and how many electrons (AMPS) are flowing. Ammeters don't care about volts. Center reading ammeters don't care about direction BUT YOU CARE!!! Traditionally, a (+) ammeter reading indicates you are CHARGING the electrical storage device called BATTERY.

Your battery don't care, positive or negative ground, your ammeter don't care, positive or negative ground BUT your alternator ABSOLUTELY DEMANDS NEGATIVE BATTERY GROUND. (its the solid state gutts of alternator's built-in voltage regulator, ya know)

Therefore, you want ALL your electrical power going into and outta the battery to go thru your ammeter. That is why you have 2-terminals. One's a gozzinnta and the other's a cummsoutta. And if'n you know you're supposta be chargin' (+) the battery and the meter is readin' (-), just swap the wire connections on the back of the meter. Simple, eh?

And thats the answer to:....."Reverse Wires on AMP Meter". I don't understand this"

You write....."Problem: My Ammeter doesn't show charging, Must it be grounded?".....NO grounding

You write....."Problem: Instruction shows that the "Red & White" runs from the starter swith to the negative port on Ammeter, Where does the white wire go to...I am confused".....me too..... You don't suppose that the instructions are talking about a red wire with a white tracer, do you? I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife..... ..respectfully, Dell

old..... ....yes, what Don sez..... .and.....
Zane has developed a "Live Thang" external fan belt powered hydraulic pump that plumbs back into the 8N corner hydraulic test port. Can be used as a replacement for a "bad" internal PTO operated pump or supplementary hydraulic power. It is also "tappable" for external hydraulic cylinder operation.

Could probably operate a light-weight frontend loader. But the front crankshaft pulley driven hydraulic pump scheme is really better for FEL application. (more gpm and psi than a fanbelt is capable of powering)..... ...Dell

You need to talk to Zane. He produces the "LIVE THANG". Gives your N live hydraulics.
