Hi,
Does anyone have some hints for increasing engine performance for a 9N? I will be rebuilding mine soon, and want to squeeze more HP out. Was thinking of a Funk v8 conversion, but decided I wanted to keep the old girl stock looking. Any help would be great.. Scott

Scott, those little tractors had more power than they needed, when they were new, and thru the 1950s. I wish someone could explain how all the power just vanished into thin air. The jobs I see them doing now, that takes 1st gear, we used to do in 3rd, with power to spare. Those tractors have modified model A Ford engines, with cylinder sleeves to reduce the piston size, to prevent the engine from being overpowered. alvinnms

Alvin..... ...if'n ya really wanna know what yer horsepower is, haul your tractor in to a tractor dealer that has a PTO horsepower measuring attachment. They use such a device for adjusting the fuel injection on BIG DIESEL tractor. You may haffta call around to find one. BIG farmers have the dealer haul it out the the plowing grounds to adjust their engines for maximum fuel efficency/power.

Otherwize, go with a good tune-up for your 23 hp 9N ...OR... a $1500 engine rebuild..... ...Dell
