94 lbs to be excact. I am pretty small and I only weigh 30 more pounds then the Top Plate does! So I know what you mean. Congrats you never know what you can do till you give it a shot first. I have lifted and put on a few by myself. I just took off and rolled a 14.5 X 28 filled tire out of the shop today no fun. Luck I had my boom to hook onto it to carry it away to where it needed to go. Mark H.

Phil and Mark,
Harbor Freight has a gizmo that might help out. Two double pulleys and about 50 feet of plastic rope. 45076-0VGA GENERAL PURPOSE ROPE HOIST $6.99. The hooks on it are just about worthless. I took three feet of light chain, put one end in their hook and looped the other end around and bolted it to the chain in the size loop that worked. You could lower the hydro cover with one hand and use the other to steer the lift control lever once you had the bolt holes close. (I guess ya could lower it with no hands, but t'ain't recommended.) That puppy and a hangin' tree and yur good to go.

Hoists do help. I used a rope/pulley setup to help get the hood/tank off my 8n when I re-did the steering on it. Still had to have the wife help move it to the side as i did the pulley/rope management.. still easier than grunt lifting though. For re-assembly I got smart and rolle dthe tractor out of the barn and used another tractor with boom pole to set it by myself.. etc.. lots of on/of.. line up, drop, lift.. re-line up.. etc.. but again.. still easier than grunting it on.

Getting it off is easier then on! I like to lower mine with the boom also. I have a hand crank winch on mine so I can lower it slowly. Nothing like messing up the control rod putting it on! Mark H.
