My '47 2N clutch adjustment is at the maximum adjustment position; can't quite get the 3/16" free play but at least it works OK for now. Is this telling me the clutch is near the end of its life?

Also (related?) neither the clutch or left brake pedals want to return all the way when released. Is this a problem? Should I at least try to kick 'em up when I can? Haven't opened up the brakes yet to see what's going on (L and R brakes mostly wishful thinking even when standing on 'em, and the adjustment stud's been adjusted. Tranny fluid on the lining/band or whatever's in there??).

I had the same problem where the pedals did not return to the up position without pull up on them. In doing a complete brake job and adding sure seals, I found the cause of the pedal problem. The shaft that goes into the brake plate was rusted up. I sprayed and sprayed some PB Blaster (penetrating oil) in the area trying to force it into the hole the shaft goes into. Since I had this off the tractor I was able to free it all up quite easily. You may be lucky and free it up still on the tractor. But you have other problems----oil leaking onto the brakes which means new brakes and seals. About $80 if you do it yourself.
