I have the special tapet wrenches that keep the tappets from turning. I ground a wrench as described in the manual. When I turn the engine so the valves are closed, the tappet is down so far that it seems like it is going to be very hard to get in there with the ground wrench. I can see it but boy, it sure looks like very little clearance to get the wrench in. Any tips???

Hey Guys -- Take a look in the archives, if I remember correctly I saw a post from Zane (I think)a few days back that layed out what sounded like a good procedure for adjusting the valve clearences and it didn't even require the special little wrenches (which he felt were prone to break).

great idea. and to add to that, IF we knew the threads per inch on that thing, we could make an estimate of how much to turn it. Does anyone know the threads per inch on these adjusters?
