Has any one ever heard of a hydraulic pump and equipment that would be attatched to the pto and hooked up and support by the point hitch for a ford 8N

Try Northern Hydraulics or Tractor Supply .

They have a PTO hydraulic pump .

Question is , will an 8N pull a disc that big or will you loose traction and just spin ?

I have a big 3 point disc that I use with my Ferguson 30 and sometimes with the 2N . When it really bites in , the 2N won't pull it . It has enough power but even with fluid in the tires , the wheels will spin .

Might want to try pulling that disc before you spend the money on a PTO driven pump .

Good Luck !

Redd..... ....I'm certain that what you asked makes sense to you, but it implies you don't know what you're talking about.

The 8N's internal hydraulic pump is driven internally by the PTO shaft. This hydraulic pump powers the famed Ferguson 3-point lift system. Its internal hydraulic pump (2.7 gmp at 1700 psi) can even be jury-rigged to provide external hydraulic power for remote systems, but it is a weak sister of a system.

There are external hydraulic pumps that can be driven by the external PTO but it makes the 3-point linkage inoperable due to size and space requirements of the PTO pump installation.

There are front pulley driven external hydraulic pumps, quite popular for Front End Loaders.

And yes, you can NOW BUY a fanbelt driven hydraulic pump that is plumbed back into the N's hydraulic system, giving increased lifting power for the 3-point system.

Hope this answers your un-asked question..... ...respectfully, Dell

thanks dell, what I'm looking for is an external pump. I was looking for something that enable me to use a disc with a hydraulic lift. do you know where i would look or would the pump not allow me to hook up the disc because of space. oh by the way Dell my wife tells me all the time i don't know what I'm talking about!! so i used to that.redd

Redd..... ..I wrote..... .."Its internal hydraulic pump (2.7 gmp at 1700 psi) can even be jury-rigged to provide external hydraulic power for remote systems, but it is a weak sister of a system".

Check your hydraulic dipstick, it'll say sumptin like "with all cylinders extended". Well guess what, it ain't talkin' about your itty-bitty 1-cup 3-point lift cylinder under yer butt-buckett outta 5 gals of tractor hydraulic fluid. They're talkin' 'bout BIG hydraulic disc road lift cylinders.

Theres a "trick" to use the corner pressure test port as a "remote" hydraulic power source to use lift cylinders. Works good for big heavy pull discs.

Some people try to use the internal hydraulic pump by-pass scheme to run front end loader. Yeah it'll work, but again I stress the N's internal hydraulic pump is a weak sister; 2.8 gpm and 1700 psi when new, when worn like most, probably no more than 2.5 gpm and 1500 psi and most likely 2 gpm and 1000 psi..... ...Dell
