I have finally got one of those deals you only hear about--5X10 tilt-bed trailer--heavy duty 6' blade and a 1950 8n with new tires--tractor runs like a dream----- all this for $1300. ( the owner needed some money fast)

HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY NEPHEW STOPPED AT A GUYS HOUSE AND BOUGHT A FORD 2 BOTTOM PLOW, 6 FOOT BLADE AND A NICE LAWN ROLLER FOR A $20.00 BILL AND THE GUY ASKED HIM IF HE WAS INTERESTED IN A FORD TRACTOR IN THE SHED. HE SAID NO, BUT CALLED ME. I WENT OVER, HIS FATHER HAD BOUGHT THIS 600 NEW,IT HAD 2300 HOURS, ORIGINAL OLD TIRES, MOTOR SET UP, BUT HAD A BEAUTIFUL NEW PAINT JOB ABOUT 6 YEARS BEFORE HE HAD PARKED IT. I SAID HOW MUCH AND HE SAID IT COST HIM $500.00 TO HAVE IT PAINTED AND HE WANTED HIS MONEY BACK. TRACTOR LOOKS NICE,IT'S CURRENTLY SITTING TILL SPRING WITH THE CYCLINDERS FILLED WITH DIESEL FUEL. WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN A MONTH OR SO.

Right on, time, that is. Some folks do have a bit more luck than others and for some it's being in the right place at the right time. I worked for one of my Daddy's best friends for several years and this man as my Daddy said , could fall face first into an outdoor toilet and come up with a ham sandwich in one hand and a big cold glass of iced tea in the other hand! Now that's luck or the Midas touch as some folks say.

That is quite possibly one of the funniest things I have ever heard! Nice. Wish I had that kind of luck!

Should be ashamed of yourself. I-duv offered the gent $1,325.00 just to ease my conscience.

Seems like 2000 is the magic number around here. That just means it runs, thats about it. i've bought 2 and the first one I lost track of how much I put in it but then its ready for parades. The last one I put 300 in and it still needs a motor overhaul. What else would we do with the money?

That truly makes me sick - but I am glad you got a good deal. I just bought my first 8n a few months ago. It is a 1948 model. Worn PTO shaft, cracked block and head (repaired), leaking rear oil seals, pitted rear axle bearings, bad water in tranny, leaking radiator, extremely worn tires - all for the discounted price of $2,325. The seller sure saw me coming - but after 4 months and around $2k in parts, I wouldn't give it up for anything!

Congrats,
Dan

Also just got lucky last month. Found a 46 2N in a pasture, tractor covered with grass and weeds. The farmer found all missing parts in his shed, along with a 6 foot blade in very good condition. Has all original major and minor parts, and opitional equipment wide rims and tires in front. Minor rust on hood side only. He asked $500.00 for it ,and I gave him a check on the spot before he changed his mind.

Brought it home and began to work on it, cleaned the carb, replaced minor parts, plugs and wire, points kit, head gasket, some minor wiring, and a new manifold. Put everything back together the farmer had taken off, ie., radiator, gas tank, grill, and hood. Cranked her up and she started with no problems. So next, changed the oil and gear, tran, and hyd. fluid to GL-1. Hydr. and gears worked even better after that.
Just needed some cleaning up and some TLC.

Price of the tractor and parts equals to about $650. Figured the blade it self is worth $250 to $300. Wish I would have paid about the same for the other trators I have. Good luck with your "new" tractor.

David

Ya might want to tarp it and park it in the back yard for a while till the heat passes!

Well.... where are the pictures!
