Can an 8n operate a 5 foot brush hog pretty well?

Bob, A 8n will handle a 5 foot brushog just fine. Don't forget to get an over riding clutch before you operate it. This will save fence and other valuable you don't want to run into. Cost about $60. John

Yes, an 8N in okay condition can handle a 5 foot in moderate high grass but not waist high heavy grass. And don't be bouncing it over rough terrain with the hog in the "up" position or you'll break something in the 3 pt system. I've certainly done that on my JD B a couple times. That bush hog hangs out there farther than the old 2 row cultivator or even the 2 bottom plow the 8N was designed for. My 8N struggles with my 5' bush hog due to 50+ years on the original engine. I need a "refresh" on my engine.
