Now that I've finally gotten my tractor running, I'm looking for a used set of chains for my 8N. I can't seem to find any for sale in my area (Duluth, MN.) this time of year. Anyone able to help me out?
Thanks Rocky

I was just talking chains to a co-worker last week. He has a pair for sale. I think he said he paid about $100 / half set.
Not sure what he wants but if interested, you can email me. (he sold his tractor)

I saw chains for sale in the Quality Farm and Family catalog, they have a number of styles and all the sizes...I think the prices were $80 to $150 each (not pair). Let me know if you need the number.

I have two sets at this time that came with my recent N...but before that I made a set for my Dad's N, our local hardware dealer/tractor tire store had the cross chains for sale at $2.50 each, and when I talked to the guy he actually sold me a case of rusty ones from the back for $30! These cross links are about 14" long and have open hook links on the side...I took 2 lengths of a regular heavy chain and put the cross links on a about every 12", hammering the hook links closed, I then fashioned a conection on each side with an adjustable link. They work great and have been in regular use for about 8 years. They cost me about $50 and two hours to make.

Good luck.

I just bought a set of Duo-Grip(field type)chains from Quality. Their chains are made by Peerless. The quality is good, their price was much lower than I could get Peerless chains for elsewhere, and should this matter to anyone, Peerless chains are made in this country.
I checked with tirechains.com and after several e-mails gave up on getting any kind of specific information about their chains. And from what I'm told, they are not made here....Al English

I gave a set to Palmer Fossum in Northfield Minnestoa. I suspect he still has them ... and is not using them.

I have a set of chains that I bought about three years ago and only used them one season. They are just hanging in my pole barn. I gave up the idea of using chains and bought a new Bobcat a little over a year ago. The Bobcat was a lot more expensive though. I used the chains on my '53 Jubilee and guess that the tires are the same size. I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. These chains weight about 100# each
