After reading Ford Dummys post and his responses to folks that were trying to help the guy, i realize how lucky i was to find this board. I've had my 52 for almost a year now, and have learned more about it by reading the problems and the solutions than i could have otherwise. My thanks to all of you. I use my N most every week for something, and it runs great. If certain folks could learn to be more civil, they'd learn something. God gave us TWO ears and only ONE mouth. Take the hint F.D.,OK?

I think "lucky" does not even begin to describe how I feel about finding such a useful information and entertainement source as is contained within this message board. I am not mechanically enclined to any great degree, but the people on this board have always given me the advice, and encouragement, I need to keep at it and make it work.

I can also identify with what "FD" was saying in his message post yesterday. Eventhough he didn't say it in so many words, it seems that he may have been feeling some buyer's remorse about his ford tractor purchase. Lord knows that after I purchased my '46 2N, and started to look around inside it, I found some things that made me feel like I had been taken. Slowly, with patience, the things that need fixing make themselves known, and get fixed.

So, if you are reading this "FD"; stick with it. Even if you got a tractor that is made from spare parts and was rigged just well enough to get you to purchase it, know that you still have a lot of tractor for the money and anytime you want to ask for advice, these guys can't wait to give it. Even if you are feeling frustrated, they can help you with that too.

One of these days I will have the time to look at my 2N to find a cooling system leak. And when I need help, one of these guys will be there to offer it. I just wish a couple of them lived closer to me. I am sure that for the small price of a couple of beers, they would work on it for me.

Ditto to all positive feedback (but I really don't like Rush)...This board's daily messages as well as the archives are the encyclopedia of N'formation. Special thanks to the ZANES, Claus's and all other regular information givers for their patience with all of us "dummies" for our dummies questions. It is obvious when people who don't really have good red N blood in their veins post with a bad attitude. I'm sure they end up GREEN with envy if they monitor all the good info of this forum. Thanks to all!!!

I will make this offer... Ford Dummy come on Down to Texas and help me work bees for a day and I'll help you on your tractor in return. Maybe you will underatnd that bees are very cooperative, amazing and generous creatures if you handle them with some respect - kick the hive a few times and you'll understand real quickly what respect is. Remember if you come on down to eat lots of bananas, wear dark clothing, and put on lots of colonge.

Knowledge is a hard thing to grasp nowadays. But the Masters and participants of this board are always here to help out. If they did'nt, I would still have a pile of nuts, bolts, and castings out in the shop.

Let's see: bananas=amyl acetate=bee alarm scent
dark clothing=intruder alert!
cologne=plays havoc with bee pheremones. Now why would you want to do FD thataway?

One of the first(and most difficult)lessons I learned with bees is to take off the gloves, so you don't squash the bees. Less chance of getting stung that way.

I would like to second all the comments in this thread and add that in addition to being just a fabulous resource, everyone on this list is very tolerant of people like me who aren't the most knowledgeable but are eager to learn. Your patience and interest in helping out is inspiring.

Without this board, I would either have cleaned out my bank account on unnecessary parts and botched attempts at repairs or would have a big iron lawn ornament sitting in my field. Because of this board my tractor is kept running just like it did in the '40's and happily goes to work for me every day. In addition I am more mindful of the need for safety and will probably live at least a few years longer because of that.

I would like to thank everyone who participates on this board. Most of the questions I have had were answered long before I could ask them. It is very interesting to read the different approaches taken to solve problems. PLEASE keep up the excellen job.

Don't forget it takes all types to make to world go around.(it would be a very boring world otherwise):)

In the spirit of goodwill that makes this forum so enjoyable, I am willing to appoligize to FD for offending him. I would expect him to realize the resource available to him here, and respect it as such. Alan Esch

I would also like to thank all on this board for the help you have given me the past year or so since I bought "my toy". If it wasn't for you-all, it would have taken me much longer to figure out my problems. And I thought I was the only one that read this board morn/noon/night.

Without this board I could have never accomplished one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in my life. To take a 50 year old tractor and make it like new again is beyond my meager talents, but with the help and encouragement of these fine friends I have almost completed it. The biggest problem I have now is not being satisfied with some of my work. I find myself removing finished parts and redoing them because they are just not good enough. I read this board 3 or 4 times a day and always learn something, even if it's just about human nature.
I would like to extend an invitation to Ford Dummy to post again. Give us details of your problems in a normal tone of voice and you will find more help than you ever knew was out there. We're here to help.

I thank the folks here too. I have found this to forum to be more than I could have hoped for. I admit I don't have the most challenging questions here, but I listen and learn a lot.
