Do we have a metal fabricator on this board that can design and or build a set of "ROPS" for an 8N? I have looked but only found new and what a price they wanted for them. Would really like to have them on mine so I can mount a hardtop. I have seen the canvas ones but really isn't what I want. I have searched the for sales but I don't believe there is a used set out there. Any help will be greatly appreciated along with all the info. I recieve. Thanks, Paul

I've got a factory one that is really heavy duty, bolts under the rear axle using the rear fender bolts. it has a seat belt which is great for the littler 8ners, no fear of a fall under a rolling tire. My property is very hilly so I think it was well worth the $400 bucks if it saves my life only once. Drawbacks--I have to take it off to get in my barn to store the tractor for winter since I dont stay there all the time. Also if it gets hooked on a tree branch it could be dangerous.

Look around for the race car folks. Anyone who builds roll cages can build up a ROPS easily enough.

Paul, Why don't you look at a factory set (for any tractor) and design your own and no one will be responsible for how they work except yourself. I wud go with 3/4" plate down where they hook on under the fender brackets and use hard longer bolts. Use 2x4 sq. tubing or heavy wall pipe and a welder who knows what he's doing. This wud be a lot safer than what you have now. (nothing) The seatbelts cud be bolted to the bolts under the seat. You're on your own with the liabilities. L8R----Fred OH

I've seen people say on this board not to use plumbing pipe for a ROPS.

What are ROPS and what are they used for?...mounting brackets for a canopy/plastic top?

Do they attach to the rear axle?

I still have stuff to learn.

Thanks
