Dell my poor old farmall went sick this weekend.i know it not ford, but you are good at this electric stuff.
converted to 12 volt with gm alt.
she died on me the other day and had to pull start it. (battery was low)
amp gauge showing charge
then put the real battery checker on the batt and not charging at all? even reved up
so i checked the post at alt and sure enuff low volts.
so i replaced alternator and low and behold the battery checker was showing a good charge.
now the amp gauge is really up to the right side (charging)
do you think that the amp gauge is real small 8-o-8
should i replace with newer version 40-o-40
thanks Dell BOB

Bob..... ...it won't hurt your 8-0-8 amp meter to be pegged by your 40-60 amps alternator. Once your battery gets it start discharge re-charged (usually about 15 minutes), should show about 2-3 amps of battery maintenance charge during normal operation. BUT.....you can change to a different scale ammeter if'n ya wants too..... ..Dell
