Dell,

I am going to split my 9N to fix the tranny input seal. If you were going to split a tractor, what else would you do? Any other seals or stuff I should replace while I am in there? I am thinking that since the clutch must be blocked to prevent sticking that I will probably be replacing the friction disc. Any other things I should think about? thanks in advance.

Joe

Check the ring gear. They always wear.

When I split my 8N last month. I went ahead and replaced the pilot bearing and the throwout bearing while it was tore down. They both didn't seem real smooth. Pretty cheap preventive maintenance.

What Dell say, plusl you might consider at least inspecting the pilot bearing. Lots of times the bearing is frozen and turning on the shaft.

Just a thought.

Joe..... ....remember that the clutch has an "off-set" hub, so you install it with longside of hub facing AWAY from flywheel. Most replace the throw-out bearing because of the hassle of re-doing it if bad.

Use your 4-bolt removed tranny input shaft to "center" your clutch disc while you also replace the tranny input seal ($3, cheap).

Unless you have SERIOUS flywheel and pressure plate scoring problems, (usually from worn clutch rivets) a light sanding to remove the shinning is all that is needed.

Follow the I&T FO-4 clutch proceedures and you'll be fine..... ....Dell
