You probably have the best strata possible to try the "Hydra Drill" system on. You will need a good supply of water to drill with and a good centrifugal pump to supply it with. You can catch the runoff water and reuse it if water is scarce but you do have to have lots of water down the hole. I made a rig myself like the "DeepRock" drilling rigs that are advertised and it is like the "HydraDrill" system also. Problem I had was that my strata was first clay and then gravel and then more gravel and sand and I couldn't afford the chemicals needed to hold the gravel and sand back when drilling and it kept falling back into the hole and slowing the progress. I did get down about 50 feet and had plenty of water but then again the fine silt in the water would plug the screen of the pump pipe and stop the water from flowing. I think that I could have still used it if I had used the compressed air system to bubble the water up to the top of the casing and then pump it from a holding tank but I got discouraged and gave it up since at the time I didn't havbe the money to invest in a compressor. The air pump system works by dropping a small pipe down inside the 2" well casing of about half an inch diameter and then blowing the water up casing with compressed air introduced at the bottom of the well. That was it is supposed to bring the sand up with the water and adjatate the water in the bottome of the well and prevent the sand and silt from being able to bridge the screen at the bottom of the well. Also at the time I was working a lot to feed the family and didn't have the money or energy to keep experimenting. I finally ended up running a plastic pipe 800 yars from a spring to a holding tank for our water. We are supposed to be getting public water here this summer. YEA!!! Zane
