This is the front bumper on my tractor. I used to think it was home-made or something cause everyone has those big three or four bar bumpers on their Ns.
But then I have seen a couple of photos with bumpers like mine. So my question is does anyone out there know what the history of a bumper like this is? is it from ford? is it an after market peice? ect. Thanks Tim

Hi all Thank you very much for all the input. I am kinda new around hear.....well atleast posting anything....been reading stuff for months now...and I really appreciate all the freindly advice to me and other newbies that wander in hear. Anyway like I said Thank you. BTW the grill I hope to get straightened. The grill got bent not so much as a failure of the bumper but a failure of the clutch...the darn thing wouldn't disengage when you pushed in the clutch. You should see the bumper on my car, a planer leg, the new muffler (two days old got ripped off on a stump stuck in reverse). Well thats why she got put in the garage causing to much damage....Thanks again and heres an update on the grill

That bumper is common on the Ferguson's as they had the tilt hoods so the Ford style bumper would prevent the hood from tilting forward. I have a bumper like that on my TE20.

Tim does this look like the bumper? I dont know to much about it when I got it it was gray color and rusted never been on a tractor it had been setting for a long time. It still had the shipping tag on it form Montgomery Wards to the farmer. They sold them but I dont know who made them. Hope this helps. Dave.

Check the photo ad on this site from 4/13/04 with this description "FOR SALE: early ford 9N new tires, ETC". You'll see a matching bumper.
Hmmm... that's 45 min away from me. I've got room... but the wife would notice it's not grey AND red... but she's got more than one cat...

Ok That is some progress. I know I have seen others with the exact same bumper. I have surfed all over the internet and I cant recall where I saw the other photos, but this on at least confirms that there are others out there. Now back to the original question does anybody have info on the history of this particular style.....Thanks a bunch Tim

Ok Here is another one. Wow nice tractor too. Hope I can get mine looking like this too. I had to add it to the photo archives on this page cause I couldn't seem to get it to post from where it was at. Hope the owner Norm Labrecque dosn't mind.

One of the boards former members, Tyler Neff has this picture from the orignal 9N accessories booklet on his website. It is similar, but not the same. If you look at my website, you likely saw the homemade bumper that my 2N had; made from some extra flat bar and a piece of ditch pipe! Necessity and whatever is layin around are the parents of invention! On the one hand you can leave it as it is and restore it with the tractor as a piece of unique personal history to go with your tractor, or you can purchase one of many available 4-bar style bumpers. Your call.

here is the bumper that came with my Jubilee.
I have seen several in the south that are just like this one, even one last week at a show on a a Ferguson 35. I think this kind was made in Atlanta so it must be a southern thing. I don't think you can say there is on that is Original to the Jubilee since they were dealer installed options. The Naa advertising brochure mentions that a bumper is available as a optional extra equipment that is welded and riveted.

Haven't seen that design before but the work put into the attachment brackets seems like it wasn't homemade. Biggest thing is the others also serve as a brush guard too and give more protection to the grill as evidenced by your pic.
