Going to remove the engine on a 51 8N, that is "stuck". I've already taken off the head and seen some rust in the cylinder walls. Been soaking in MMO for several months now. I've borrowed an engine hoist. Today,I bought an engine stand. It is rated for 750 lbs. max. Is this going to be too small to hold the engine block while I work on it? (I also have the video on rebuilding the engine). I'm hoping that after getting the oil pan off, I can remove the crank and maybe get the pistons unstuck. I can't afford to pay for a complete overhaul at this time. Any suggestions?

Rick..... ....even the BIG CHRYSLER HEMI's weigh less than 750 lbs. I believe yer dinky N-Block (with everything) weighs less than 200#. Bareblock probably less than 100#. While it is good to be safe, donnna worry..... ...Dell, the self-appointed safety preacher

A stripped bare block alone is 100 lbs, crank 40 lbs, head 35 lbs, pistons & rods 20 lbs, oil pan 40 lbs, water pump 3 lbs, add to that the gov, dist, 75 lb fly wheel, 20 lb starter that totals about 330+ lbs for a complete engine. These little 4 cylinders are heavy for there size! Mark H.

Yes Mark, that is also probably the reason they have lasted 50 + years. The part that tickles me is the 40# oil pan. Well when you really think about it, it's funny until you have to drop it and re-mount it, then the fun stops.

Also getting it all bolted in place first snugging all the bolts some befor torqing the transmission to oil pan bolts down good. It all has to fit right befor the last turns because it supports the tractor also. Just remember it fits in a angle mount not just up agaist the bottom of the engine. Mark H.
