There was a conversation going on a couple of weeks ago about various wheels that would fit on a 9N/2N. I happened to be looking at the ebay site and noticed a 2N (described incorrectly as an 8N)for sale with odd front wheels on it. It is item # 3810978637
Anybody know what they might be?

I've heard that you can change the hubs out to an early mercury style hub. that looks similar to the wide hub.. perhaps that is what it is.. and then the accompanying merc rim.. etc?

That's not the first I've seen that way.

There used to be a rumor that there was a car rim that bolted right up to the 9n hub.. but I never saw that materialize as fact in a conversation... guess it is just as possible that it is true.. only extremely rare...

your guess is as good as mine..

I have a 1941 9N with 16 inch front wheels that are NOT cut and welded. They have rivets and the hubs on tractor are original 9N hubs. Rare ?? I don't know, but just had them sandblasted and have new B.F. Goodrich 6:00x16's, tri-ribs to go on them.

Well.. I would guess they are rare.. as you are the only person that I have heard that has them..

You gotta post a pic of them one day.

As a side thought.. I soppose a skilled machinist could produce a conversion that looked stock... considering there are 19" and 16" rim blanks available... a little metal working magic might have been done. Those machinist people are artists. We use a local guy for our heavy equipment work.. he routinely fabricates parts that look indistinguishable from the original.

It would be nice though if we could find a direct crossover to a 'standard' available rim.

If you can get a pic up.. maybee we can ID a rim.

Those 16" wheels are only rare when you are looking for a set for a tractor that doesen't have them, I have them on my 44 2N that Dad bought new in may of 44, In about 1950? when the 16" became avaible he bought a set of them, not sure where but the 6:00 X 16" tires he got with them were Sears so I think the rims also came from Sears. When I bought my 41 9N it had the 19" on and I wanted the 16", couldn't find a set like on the other tractor so I put a set of 36-39 Ford Car hubs and rims on, large hub as well but 3/4" different than tractor hub

In another post.. I think we have them nailed down as firestones.. Perhaps they may even have been sold via sears..?

we have a 1939 9N with 32 in rear wheels. we need some different rims and cannot seem to locate any of this size. It seems that most are 28 in. Are 32 in rear wheels original?
