The lift only goes up to about 30 degrees from horizontal to ground. If I assist by lifting it manually I can get about 45 degrees. As soon as I let go it drops back down to about 30 degrees. Plenty of lifting power though, has not refused anything yet. It has lifted my Rebel Brush Hog. Also my dipstick broke off and the blade fell down inside. Is this going cause any problems? Since I do not have a dip stick yet, approximately how far from the top of the fill hole should the oil level be?

Adding to what Jeb said.. you can remove that dipstick cover while the machine is NOT running.. and fish that piece of dipstick out if it bothers you..

Test #1: remove the bottom bolt from either of the two inspection plate covers on the side of the transmission and add oil until it weeps out of that hole and then you know you have enough.

Do you have a 9N/2N or is it an 8N? If a 9N/2N, loosen the 4 bolts that hold the lift control lever to the lift housing and you can slide it forward or backwards to adjust it. Sounds like it's just out of adjustment. If you have an 8N, it's a little more tricky to adjust and I'll let the other guys handle that.

Thanks Guys: it is an 8N and I just received my Ford SHOP MANUAL today. I'll be a real pro in no time (Laugh). Really thanks so much. Just retired and getting the hang of things.
