Got a Sears hydraulic 4500 lbs floor jack that only goes up halfway. Freebie!. Project # 96305! Can these things be fixed cheaply? Can these things be fixed? If so, what is involved? No obvious leaks, It just runs out of gas in mid travel and the handle slowly leaks down. Thanks in advance, Rich

i dont know if i would trust one that leaks, or only goes half way up , i would dumping the old hydraulic fluid , fill with new. and try again. make sure you use jack stands or a good blocking system before you get under anything it holds up. it just isnt worth your life. should it fail. abj

Probably low on fluid. I'd try adding fluid first and then if nothing, just get a new jack. Not worth the hassle as jacks are cheap.
