Richard..... ....it should be intutitively obvious that your loosen yer frontwheel lugnuts BEFORE you jack-up your front axle. While I have a floorjack, I still use a block of wood to distribute the pressure on the castiron oilpan or the frontaxle support assy. Then jack-stands under the axle for final stablity..... ....Dell

You can put it under the pan with a wood block between the jack and pan. Or just in front pan on the axle support. I like to jack under the axle support and set it down on jack stands, blocks of wood, railroad ties etc. under each axle.

The oil pan is probably strong enough, but the problem is that the front axle is on a pivot pin; if you get both wheels off the ground at the same time, the axle flops around like a see-saw. Put the tractor in gear, block the rear wheels, and place your jack under the front axle about half way on the side that you are removing the tire.
