On the throttle linkage I am trying to understand the purpose of the spring 9827 pg 50 of the Parts Catalog. This spring is connected from the linkage and the engine block. Also I am missing the part 9805 and the spring is just stuck in the hole on the end of 9807. What is this part 9805?

I don't have the MPC, but i'm looking in the Dennis-Carpenter catalogue as it has some pretty decent parts breakdowns. The long spring on the throttle rod gives some extra resistance to the throttle linkage to help it stay put. Additionally, after a certain point, it helps to try and pull the linkage back up to a point of slower throttle rather than wide open. If gravity and vibration had their way and the spring wasn't there, you'd slowly rev your engine up as you drove along.

Part number 9N9805 is the throttle lever. I have a hard time imagining that you are missing that part. Perhaps you meant 9807 or 9810? I was missing 9N9810 on mine and it was replaced with a piece of scrap metal and held on with baling wire. They are just throttle linkage lever arms to move the linkage to adjust your speed. While you can get away without running the long spring 8N9827, may as well go ahead and get it, especially if your little groovy-nubby plate on the dash is worn smooth. BTW, all of those parts are still available for the 8N, but only some are still available for the 9N/2N.
