Any ideas on loosening up a rusted top link - PB blasted for several days - a few beats with a hammer - about 250 ft-lbs of torqe (me at 1 ft out on the pipe wrench with a few bounces) and no movemento. Probly been frozen for at least 7 yrs.

Or better yet - is a replacement reasonably priced and can I just get one at a local tractor store?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul G. Shouldn't be a problem. I got a badly rusted and stuck one with a tractor last summer. It had a hole in the Pipe part of it. Filled the pipe section with oil then squirted the screw in ends with oil and let it set for a week. Put it in a vice and broke it loose. Most of us have more than one to use on different equipment. Get your self another one($18-$25) while this one is soaking. Good luck and safe tractoring. Ron

Just looked in the worthless TSC catalog and can't find them. But I'm sure I paid in the $20.00 range. Good luck

Yep.. and the TSC website is even more useless.. you can't even browse by topic.. and a search of toplink.. top link.. top or link.. 3rd link 3pt 3 point, etc.. comes back with 'sorry.. no products'.

They really should fix it so that their search engine actually reports on the items that ARE for sale in their store...

What kind of toplink you got? The tube/screw kind, or the two metal flats bolted to each other.?

The screw in kind can get tight.. I've had luck letting it sit in a pail of diesel for a day or so.. and then clamping the body in a vice and using a pipe wrench on one of the eye ends to loosen it up. You may also be able to take a propane torch to the tube portion of the body right where it engages the threads.. and heat it up.. expanding it.. work quick.. you don't want to expand the thread stock as well.

Might have to alternatte.. heat.. then pb blaster.. etc.

New toplinks can be picked up at farm stores for about 20-30$ depending on where you go.

You might want to check-in tommorow, 'bout then, with Dr. Zane, OOur cutt'n-torch specialist. Dr. Zane might recommend more patience and more "Lets go" a special formuloation that ocomes in an aersol can for specialists. Hope this helps, really. :
