My father-in-law washed his 9n last week and now lost all fire. He has dried out the distributor and all other parts more than once ( plus it has been 6 days now). We tried new points and condensor. Any and all suggestions welcome!!!!

Thanks for the help. Had to put in new points and a new cap to get her to run right. I am sure the water found the crack in the cap. The points looked like they needed changing anyway.

thanks for the Help!!!!! !!!!! !!!!

You don't say if he washed it after running it, or if he did it cold. It could have a cracked distributor cap (you wouldn't necessarily be able to see the crack).

Give some more details...you don't give a lot to work with. Does it turn over ? Backfire ? Just click ? Nothing at all ? Be real specific !!

I have not been there to work on the tractor yet. (going tonight) I have an 8n so he was grilling me last night and I thought I would get your opinions before heading over. What I know is that the tractor ran fine, he washed it and now it does not start. It does crank. I am just looking for any and all suggestions of things to check so I do not forget anything. I had told him to get new points, condensor and now I will add distributor cover.
thanks in advance.

You probably have a bad cap after it was washed it probablty found a crack in the cap that the water filled in and is now shorting it out

Seem to remember way back when, if we tried to start the car after an engine wash and NOT drying out the distributor, it would form an electromagnetic field inside the cap and pull the rotor enough to crack the cap.

Just my humble suggestion.

Ummm,, wonder is someone makes electronic ignition system for this type engine. Sort of like air craft.
