Need to replace the seals on the old 8N. Anybody have any idea of the weight of these wheels when I pull them off. They are partially water filled!
Thanks a bundle
Norman
PS - off fishing and to run out a couple of trot lines on the weekend. Catfish are biting like crazy here on the local lake at the moment.

Ditto Jim ut.

When i pulled a 11.2x28 rear off my 8n, it had a few gallons of water in it, and it was heavy. It was all I could do to load it in the back of my truck by myself. I shouldn't have done it that way as it was so heavy.. When I went to put it back on I got smart and used my other tractor with a boom pole and a nylon sling... much easier on the back.

"Other tractor". Hmmm now there's a concept I wish I could convince my wife of. ;)

Absolutely... an 'other tractor' can be an important tool.. and safety device... after all.. you don't want to injure your back lifting that tire do you?

The weight will depend on how "partially" they are filled. I have 13.6-28 tires on my 850. My manual says it takes 38 gallons of fluid to fill it. If it were all water, figure 8 lbs per gallon. That comes to 304 lbs plus the weight of the tire, tube, rim, wheel center. If that water has calcium chloride mixed in, that figure can go over 500 lbs. You're probably looking a little less for you 8N tire since it's probably a smaller size tire (fewer gallons).

Don't jack the wheel up too far. Just far enough to wiggle it off the lugs. Have a place picked out ahead of time to lean it (solid wall, etc). Have the path clear so you can roll it over there. If you can keep it upright you should be OK. If it starts to get away from you, don't try to catch it, just let it fall. Figure out a way to pick it up later. It's not worth the hernia.

Don Barkley mentioned once using a handtruck to take loaded tires off of tractors and moving them around. Sounds like a good idea.

I used an 8' 4X4 in the center and a helper to lever it up when I dropped one.
