I am trying to print that excellent article in the archives; Bill Dakin's "9N Engine Rebuild Chronicle."

Is there a way to print it so that the photo's or text do not become split from one page to another? And/Or, is there a way to remove all of the banner pages associated with a printed copy?

I tried "file, save as," on to disc and hard drive, but I cannot print it from that as well. Advice? Or, are these forbidden to be saved due to copyrights?

I am trying to assemble a decent reference folder and binder as I prepare to gain knowledge on the subject of taking my 9N apart to rebuild the engine. thank you. 9N'er

Remember, nerd used to be a 4 letter word. Now it is a 6 figure income.

got it thanks...should have tried copy/paste. Yes, Word is installed. Good idea on clean copy and working copy. Am I on my way to being a Nerd? If I stay with this site, at least I'll be a well rounded Nerd. From computers to tractors and everything else in between...seems like a decent combination to me. thanks guys.

Go to the web page that you want to print. Place your cursor at the beginning of the text that you want to print. Click once, and the cursor will be inserted at that point. Scroll down until you are at the end of the text. Hold the left shift key down, and click at the end of the text. This will highlight all the text. While the text is highlighted, press and hold the Control key (usually in the lower left corner of the keyboard marked CTRL). While holding the Control key, press the letter C. This action is known as Copy or CTRL+C and will copy highlighted text to a holding area called the clipboard.

Next, open up a text editor such as Notepad, Wordpad, Works or Word. If you have included any graphics, you will need Word or Works. Make sure that the insertion point is where you want it, and press CTRL+V (or paste). In Word or Works you can adjust your page breaks to fall where you like. In Notepad or Wordpad you cannot.

Good Luck!

I agree about using Windows copy & paste to extract text and pictures from here on YT and then inserting them into your own "personal handbook" via a decent word processor. You can print all or parts of your handbook out to take right to your tractor to do work, but also keep a "clean" copy on your computer to refer to and share with other N-buddies. If you do this, I would also recommend backing it up to floppy disk occasionally to save a copy of your work.

You can copy text from messages here on YT by putting your cursor at the beginning of a block of information that you want. You'll see your cursor change from an arrow to an "I-beam" to let you know that you can start copying. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse from that point to the end of what you want to copy, and then release the left mouse button. The block of selected text should be highlighted to show your selection. If you don't get what you want, just do it again. Now you've selected your text and it's time to copy it. You can copy it to Windows clipboard (a mysterious place where Windows stores what you copy and cut-out) a couple different ways. If you are comfortable with using the mouse, put the mouse somewhere over the highlighted text and press the right mouse button. A menu will appear and one of the options will be Copy. Choose this and the highlighted text is now stored in the Windows clipboard. The other way to copy the text is to press the Ctrl and C keys simultaneously.

Ok, you now have "grabbed" the text that you want. Switch to your word processor, where you should have a document opened and ready to go. Put your cursor in the document where you want the copied text to be inserted and either press Ctrl and V simultaneously, or right-click your mouse and choose Paste to insert the text. Don't forget to save this file to disk when you are finished with your work.

Copying picture (image) files from here and pasting them to your word processor is done as follows:

- Put your mouse cursor inside the picture anywhere and right-click it.
- Choose Copy just like you did for the text.
- Switch over to your word processor document and place your cursor where you want the picture to be and either press Ctrl and V simultaneously, or right-click your mouse and choose Paste to insert the picture in your document.

Doing this over time will allow you to create a highly personalized handbook for your N-tractor. You can print out all or parts, refer to it on your PC, share it with other N-buddies, etc.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

Ya need something more souped up than "Wordpad" and "Notepad" to copy and paste without loosing pics and format. Do you have "Microsoft Word" floating around on your computer? You can copy and paste to that software and not loose a stitch. You'll have to safe your article to a ".doc or .rtf" format in order not to loose it's style and format. That's document (.doc) and rich text format (rtf).

Microsoft Works should work too.

Tyman
