Any possiblities of getting a stump grinder for an 8N? Or should I just rent one? I have about 18 stumps to get rid of. Some soft pine, others hard wood.

Thanks 8N people!

I've almost always found that hiring someone to do specialized work like this, requiring unique skills and equipment, is the way to go. They'll be in and out in a few hours, the cost is comparatively low, and you'll avoid the embarrassment of having to explain to your in-laws how you managed to stump-grind off your three littlest toes.

I had 19 total (8 mulberry 29", 9 honey locust 18", and 2 silver maples 48") ground out for $300
Thought that was reasonable. Was going to burn them out, but it would have cost that much for the diesel fuel :-)
And they were too close to the house for dupont remover

Most stumpgrinders that I'm familar with are HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED. Your 8N does not have remote hydraulics. While it is possible to mount a PTO driven external hydraulic pump $$$ most don't for that very reason.

Sometimes its cost effective to rent a stump grinder; sometimes its more cost effective to hire a stumpgrinder guy (with experience); sometimes its more cost effective to backhoe'em out. Too bad we can burn'em out like our grandfathers did by letting salt-peter soak into bored holes in the rotted stumps. Too many busybodies at the EPA that can't stand the sight and smell of smoke..... ....the stumped Dell

Rent one for a day or two...Lots cheaper than buying one so it can get rusty sitting around waiting for you to use it again.
