First.. the 8n doesn't have a live pto.. it has a single stage clutch and a pto that is tied to the drivetrain, when the tractor is in gear.. when the clutch is depressed.. no pto. Second.. While there are many pulled implements.. do not discount the benefits of the 3pt hitch. Besides the safety factor it offers in a backflip situation, the constant draft sensing is great for ground engaging loads.. actually helps to suck the tractor to the ground.. while still letting tillage equipment avoid immovable ovjects... that said.. a good towed plow works decent too. There are quite a few ways to add a remote to your N... primary way is to tap into the 2.9 gpm 1500-1700 psi belly pump via the hyd pump bottom plate corner test port.. then chain your lift arms down to divert the pressure to the test port.. You would use the hytrol lever as your control valve to develop pressure at your hyd port... add whatever spool or couplings are needed for the specific connection... this works best on simple single acting cylinders... power up.. gravity down.. unless you add a spool and return line, etc.. so that you can use DA cylinders. Second way would be to add a pto pump. I think you are looking in the wrong spot if you believe the pto pump does not deliver the volume or pressure to operate a simple remote. In general, you can get bigger pto pumps than you can engine mounted pumps... Most backhoes are driven off of pto pumps.. while loaders are driven off of front stinger pumps. The backhoe is arguable the higher load device. Also.. to operate a simple lift cylinder doesn't take much oil or pressure... a pto pump would be way way way overkill for something like a lift or tilt cylinder for a pulled implement.... simple fluid displacement calculation will give you an idea of speed.... average pto pump delivers 9 gpm or so... that a whole lotta oil on a 2" or 3" culinder with a short to medium travel... Third option is an engine mounted aux pump driven by a belt. There is a gentleman here named Zane Sherman who makes a 'live thang' whish is an aux pump.. it can be used to add a remote, and make the N's internal lift 'live'. 4th option is a front mounted crankshaft driven stinger pump. Probably the highest volume device ov all the options listed.. thought the pto units can get very close.. Pto pump is easiest to install.. Nternal hyds ar ethe next easiest to use via chaining the arms down... and the front stinger is the next.. but you will have to get a coupler, and modify your front tin / bumper.. so it is a toss up with the live thang.. as it will require some breketry and belting .. etc... not hard jobs.. Another option for limited hyd use, on a 12v machine would be a closed hyd unit run of the electric system... I've seen lotsa people throw one on a tractor... small ones that can operate a DA cylinder can go for as cheap as 280$.. and just need a power and ground.. and have a built in relief and simple spool controll.. as well as a remote mountable 2way switch... great for a project that needs very limited hyds.. Als.. not sure where you are getting price info.. but pto pumps are cheap at places like the surplus center... If you are so against the 3pt lift.. go buy a fordson... no lift... good luck.. Soundguy
