My friend and I were plowing our two fields together. I was using my N and a ferguson 2 bottom, He was using the same type plow on his much newer 1900 diesel. He was having trouble with the depth of the plow. I was looking to see if his machine had some kind of draft control setup like my 8N. It didn't look like it. I posted this question on the regular ford board but didn't get a responce. I hoping someone knows if there is any type of draft control on a ford 1900. Could it be that this later model tractor does not have draft control and only has position control. It makes it very difficult to plow.

yup the 1900 is a japanese Shiburau - designed for use with a PTO driven tiller, not a plow. Plus your N has twice the engine displacement, and much more torque to pull through the dirt. I love plowing with my 9n compared to the 30hp Jap diesel 4x4 I had last year. Nicer sound, too :)

Most newer tractors have position control only.. and not draft control. The exception to this is larger agg tractors.. and tractors with dealer options.. For instance.. my NH 1920 has the option to ADD draft.. but it is not installed.. The sheet metal has been stamped to accept the extra lever.. but it is not present. I would also assume that the solid toplink bracket would need to be exchanged for a load sensing one as well..

From time to time, I've read the brochures on the Japanese-built 30-40 hp. tractors and have noticed that draft control is either not available or an option unless you get to the most deluxe versions of the Kubotas and John Deeres where it sometimes is standard equipment. If I had to plow with a 1900 without draft control, I would find or have built some kind of gauge wheel to control depth and then drop the lever down so the plow could float, a system which greatly improved the mounted-plow performance of an old Case tractor I once owned that was equipped with an Eagle Hitch that did not have draft control. Gauge wheel made it an OK plowing outfit. Mike-Iowa

Mike, What do you mean by a gauge wheel? Do you mean a trailer type wheel on the plow to stop it at a certain depth? Sort of like what my york rake has behind it.
