Master Parts Catalog?

The Master Parts Catalog; 1939 thru 1953 Ford Tractor, Models 9N, 2N, 8N, and NAA does not include all the 9N & 2N illustrations. For instance, they have 1948-52 illustrations for the hydraulic lift shaft, hydraulic lift links, hydraulic pump, and center housing. I think they have the 1953 also. For other assemblies they have a more than one illustration dated 1939-1947 and 1948-52. I haven't checked all the illustrations. They both have several generator illustrations. I'm not sure if it matters so much because the manual does show part numbers for the 9N/2N. It’s a good reference.

The better reference for 9N/2N/8N owners is The Ford Tractor Assembly Manual and Service Parts Catalog; Models 9N-2N-8N, 1939-1952. The book generally shows only one undated illustration for assemblies but it has cut-outs showing the different parts used on the early N's. These are the same illustrations and parts list my local FNH dealer uses. It's set up nice because it repeats the same illustration on several pages so you don't have to flip back and forth from a 3-4 page parts list to a single, remote illustration.

I have both but if I was going to have only one it would have to be the Assembly Manual and Service Parts Catalog.

Rob..... ..I have both the N-Ford MPC and the N-Ford Assy manual and the I&T FO-4. I like the cleaner line drawings and neater printing of the MPC and the fact that it also includes some of the NAA stuff. There's been very few 9N/2N parts specifically shown in the Assy Man that haven't been shown in the MPC. I just think we're lucky to have any manuals at all..... ...Dell the bookworm that always "cross-references" when in doubt

I've been favoring the MPC because of the cleaner look until I tried to figure this Everett change over to the 9N. Now the benefits of the Assembly Manual become more clear.
I've wondered why the dealer uses the Assembly Manual at his parts desk. It helps to have those illustrations on each page of the parts list.
The FO-4 is good enough most anything that comes up.
