I posted this problem to the board a couple of weeks ago and have had the clutch pedal depressed ever since , to no avail. Tried driving it around using the brakes as well. I can see the shaft rotate (when the pedal is depressed) on the left (from the seat) side of the tractor , any other suggestions?
thanks again

I have had luck by either starting the tractor in gear or forcing it into gear ( rolling down a hill to get up some speed can help ) while towing a truck when moving the driver of the truck slows down and puts on the brakes.

This sounds silly, but it worked for me. USe your head though, because the risk is great. I got this tip from one of the respected elders of this board. Block the tracor up on pavement. Have someone sit on it with the key on the ignition. Start it up with jumper cables to the starter while it's in the highest gear, foot on clutch. Give it a little throttle and push it off the jack. Mine became unstuck immediately. My dad was the guinne pig, but seemed to enjoy it. I made sure it had an unobstructed path but it only traveled about 3 feet on the inertia before it became unstuck. This was a lst ditch effort before I split it. That was three years ago.

Good Luck,
Take Care
Steve

I had all the symptoms of a stuck clutch, after putting a new clutch in it (and letting it set a couple of months). I broke down and split it, just to find out that the clutch WASN'T stuck after all... I hadn't let the adjustment out, to allow for the thickness of the new pressure plate.

Man, did I ever feel like an idiot.... :-(

Ditto Richard and Rdut.. both are on the right track. It isn't uncommon to have to screwdriver-pry the clutch and flywheel apart.

Also.. pulling a good load.. and/or doing figure 8's to put some stresses on te system to help it break free are a good idea.

My trick is to remove the starter motor. Press the clutch all the way down and tie it down or block it. You could also adjust the clutch and take out all the play so when you press it you get more action and a larger space between the flywheel and pressure plate. Now get in there with a thin blade and a mirror and pry the disk away from the flywheel & pressure plate. Turn the motor and do it again. Keep rotating the engine by pushing the tractor a small amount in third gear. Work your way around the entire flywheel. Start her up and drive around again. I have not done this on a ford but I have done it other tractors, it should work on yours. It's slow and tedious but not bad. You may have to bend up a putty knife to get it in there. This assumes your clutch is stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate and you have no other problems like bad linkage or pressure plate fingers. Hope this helps.

I heard of one guy clamping the clutch down and driving it into a tree....Dont recommend it but gives you and idea of the desparation you must feel. Sorry I dont know of anything other than splitting it and fix it...Tim
