I just used one to cut 300 feet of trench for drainpipe.
I added an old cylinder head from a 350 Oldsmobile engine (about 75 pounds) for weight.
The extra weight makes a big difference in cutting depth.

Depends on soil conditions. If it's as dry there now as it is in southern alabama, it's gonna take a ton of weight to get it to sink. If so, you might wait until you get some rain. I have a big spare axel housing from my Jube that I wedge in the frame over my middle buster. It helps. Good luck

You may not have it angled correctly using the toplink.. generally these things suck into the ground pretty good. Tough packed clay or lime rock may make that a problem though.

By all means.. throw some weight on it as a test if you want to.

Shoot, I know where a set are/is. They were on the IH that I learned to drive on. On that rig, they mounted in front of the driver on both sides, behind the narrow two front wheels. That tractor did not have 3 point hook up.

Still laying out in Daddy's field with all that other ole IH stuff.

Any one want all that stuff? :-)

Looks like a double mold board plow, one side left, one side right, back to back. Throws dirt both directions. I guess they were made to use on a plowed field before planting truck produce to make elevated rows, or for winter lay by so you can get in the field earlier in the spring. Seems respondents here use it for what I use it for and that is digging a trench to "plant" a water pipe.
