OK guys thanks for all the help on my little after work project. With all your helpful hints I still made a mess, anyway she draining as I pound the keys and I'm checking on the GL-5 as my lunch time project. Yes the small pipe plug in the rear will have the most fluid. One thing, when I removed the middle plug a lot of gunk had settled in the plug and the bottom of the trannie, how can it be removed if at all? Thanks again

The middle plug is the hydro pump.. and yes.. lots sludge acumulates there.

Clean it out as best you can. Some people pop a side cover off and hose down the inside with a garden sprayer of kerosene or diesel amnd wash some of the stuff out. If ya got 'inches' of stuff in there.. you may have to drop the pump.. which menas pulling the pto shaft.

Not rocket science.. just a bit o' greasy and dirty work.. and ya gotta hold your mouth just right to get the pump to drop out.. etc.

Would reccomend you NOT use gl-5 oil... either use the new NH/ford spec 134d oil ( or equivalent).. or the old spec 90wt gl-1 mineral oil.. both are more or lessa available at TSC, napa, wallmart.. etc.

Most fellas flush the system with diesel fuel. Put some in and catch the gunk.

Recommended tranny fluid is GL-1, or equivelent of 134D oil (fluid). Hope this helps, ya.
