Can anyone tell me the difference between a FRAM C3 & a C3P oil filter and which one will work on a Ford 9N? Can I use a SAE 30 oil in the tractor also? I hear different things on the type of oil to use. WHich is the best?

Oil is up to you. Everybody has different preferences, but I like to use straight 30wt high detergent in my freshly rebuilt engine.

I have heard from others that the only difference between the C3 and the C3P is the filter media. I think the C3P has slightly nicer, pleated filter in it. Only a buck or two difference in price.

Ditto what Jeb says.

the c3-p has more media and a nicer paper cover. the c3 is about 3.99 at tsc.. the c3-p is 5.99? at tsc. I see new gaskets in all the c3-p's I bought.. but only have gotten a new gasket with a c3 a couple times.. not sure why?

These cross with a napa 1010gold.. and it is even nicer.. netal can.. and 7.99?

If you are doing a quik oil flush after buying a tractor.. I might get the c3 and cheap good oil.. and run it a few hours ( 10 ) and change it again with the c3p. This will also let you know if 30w oil will do ya.. or if ya need 40w oil.. etc.

TSC has traveler oils cheap.. and wallymart has supertech oils cheap.. great for limited use flush oil. A tad bit of marvel myster oil added in the flush oil might help too if the oil oil looked especially chunky..
