A lot of dedicate some empty cans to place under the tractor for catching those drips associated with aged tractors and other equipment.

I like using those cans that my favorite imported hams come in. I understand that others simply fashion a hanger system to suspend a small can, such as those that no longer contain tuna fish, salmon, or even crab meat.

Hope this helps.

Your question has been asked before and the answer is yes it is suppose to be there. It keeps the hole open for the oil drippings. As with all tractors there are always oil drips, at first you attempt to stop them. Then you find out it is impossible to stop all oil leaks. Cheers, Murray

It came from the factory like that. As oil/fluid leaks past the seals, it needs a hole to drain; the cotter pin keeps the hole open. High-tec, circa 1939.
