Does anybody know of a source for repro style bowl with the lever you turned 45 degrees for on and 90 degrees for reserve instead of the thumbscrew. I tried FNH a couple of years ago but they told me no longer available. If not now, any chance in the future, would there be a demand for this? Thanks in advance.

My mistake gentleman, I was describing operation from memory and CRS or Coors syndrome must have had an effect. I just ran to the shop and checked original owners manual and the actual operation is to turn the lever counter clockwise for main supply and clockwise for reserve supply. The manual even has a picture showing the original with a lever instead of a knob. Yes it was much easier to operate and I do imagine a little more expensive to manufacture. Sorry for the confusion I caused. I still would like to find a source for these, and if anyone is interested I will try and scan and post a picture of this original style with lever. Thanks for your responses.

Just to add my 2 cents, my '43 2N has what appears to be the original sediment bowl with the thumb wheel also. It says 2 turns for normal 4 turns for reserve.....

This is a pic of the sediment bowl assy from my Copyright 1940 "Ford Tractor with Ferguson System" instruction book. It's suppose to be the original that came with my Grandfather's tractor. Turn check valve counter clockwise for main fuel and clockwise for reserve.

This is what's on my 9N today:

I always thought it was original. I remember the thumbscrew being there when I was a wee tike. But, I guess it could be a replacement.

Anyone else with ideas?

Tyler, I can't see your pics, only the boxed red x, but this Instruction book has a pic of it on page 9. Same one? That is the original with the lever and stamped "R" and "M" to indicat main or reserve.

Humm...I can see the pics sometimes and sometimes there are red x's. It may have something to do with the site where the pics are housed (Geocities). I'll upload to another site and give it another try.

Are those valves original?!? My 1946 parts book shows the valve as having a knob (or disk). On my Uncle's 8N the knob had written on it "2 turns for open. Full out for reserve". Some replacement valves I have seen do not have the knob, rather the end of the stem is just bent over so you can turn it. They still have to be turned 2 turns for open and all the way out for reserve. Just cheaper to make since there is one less part.

The valve you describe would be easier to use. Maybe harder to make?!?

I have to agree with Larry, the operators manual speaks of the normal and reserve positions, the F04 manual shows a picture on page 26 "MODEL 8N" that clearly shows the knob on the valve. Perhaps another manuafacturer had the lever as each had the same goal yet had different ideas on how it was to be achieved.
