Was going to drain the gas out of the fuel line on my 8N (side distrib.) and discovered that instead of a simple bolt, the new carb has a needle valve drain setup underneath the carb with a hand-twist. Not shown in the book or parts manual. How many turns to set this valve? I'm temporarily using two complete turns. And could a wrong previous setting of this valve be a reason the tractor's been running so rough? Thanks. RM Keith

Keith..... ..yer description of yer lower carb valve is somewhat "vague". It could be a farmerized modification of the regular carb float bowl drain bolt. Eazier to drain water outta the carb. ...OR... it could be a un-common version of the Marvel/Schebler Carb with an "economizer" power valve. Are you sure ittza M/S? Iff'n I had to guess, 1-turn. My '52 8N's common M/S TSX-241B carb doesn't have it..... ...Dell

Instead of a needle valve, could it be your main (power) jet adjustment? Some MS carbs had those on the bottom instead of the top half. You should still have a pipe thread drain plug in the bottom middle though.
