I HAVE A 8N AND I DIDNT HAVE ANY OIL PRESSURE AFTER THE REBUILD. I DID PRIME THE PUMP AND I AM WONDERING IF I NEED TO TEAR IT BACK DOWN COMPLETELY TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY MAJOR DAMAGE .I LET IT RUN FOR APPROX. 5 MIN. BEFORE I NOTICED THE GAUGE READING 0. I JUST PUT IN A NEW GAUGE AND FIRST HOPED IT TO BE FAULTY BUT I TOOK THE LINE TO THE OIL FILTER LOOSE TO SEE IF ANY OIL WOULD COME OUT AFTER RESTARTING AND NO OIL CAME OUT AFTER APPROX. 20 SEC. OF RUNNING.IT STARTS FINE WITH NO APPARENT DAMAGE BUT CANT FIGURE THE NO OIL PRESSURE PROBLEM.

Russ , my first guess would be a defective oil pickup tube ( sucking air ) they are soldered in place and sometimes get cracked or a rust hole in them( no suck ) no oil pressure , Iv been wrong before , Im thinking I would not use it untill you get normal oil pressure, hmm was this the reason it needed rebuilt . ?

i had oil pressure before i tore the motor down to rebuild it.i flushed all the oil lines with diesl fuel the day before i started the engine so there should be no clogging of lines. if the pressure switch is frozen up on this engine could this be the problem? thanks for your replys

Russ..... ..did you remember to put the oil galley plug (1/8 pipe) in behind the flywheel? Iff'n not, you'll have a tranny case fulla oil peeing out those high tech hole cleaning cotter keys. Did you check yer oilpan dipstick for ennyoil? Iff'n ya assembled with assembly lube, yer bearings are still protected for a couple of hours it takes oil to flush the greese out..... ...Dell

i aint sure about this oil plug tube yer reffering to. i had a retired gentleman rebuild the motor and i reinstalled the engine.who had the opportunity to install the oil galley plug him or me ? i am sure he used assembly lube if thats stuff looks like lithium grease. i will ask the the retirey if he is familiar with this plug as i am sure he is.i aint blaming him on the rebuild for the problem as i talked to him today and i think we are going back into the engine tomorrow and have a look see on the oil pickup tube. i will give the results after that entry. thanks for your reply
