I recently bought an early model 8N, front distrubutor. I put in a new dist cap, condensor, points, plugs, wiring harness, and plug wires.
It turns over but wont start, what did I do wrong? It has spark to the plugs. Is it possible to put the dist. in 180 degrees off?? I was told it can only go in one way, but that is all I can think of that I might have done wrong. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank You

Seems I have seen posts in the past that if the tang and slot get worn, that it is possible to get it 180 out. Couldn't happen 50 some years ago when they were new. New plug wires - how sure are you that you have them right??

Thanx for the tips guys, I am away from home on work but as soon as I get back I have something to go on. Having messed up the firing order on other projects I am pretty sure I got it right (this time). Have not checked the intensity of the spark yet, the air breather is off right now, I put a new carb on, I will keep plugging away at it. BTW, I am on western Montana.

if you changed your carb. i know this sounds stupid. but make sure you turned your gas under the gas tank back on. i shut my gas off every time i am through with the tractor, just out of habit. i sometimes still forget to turn it back on and get a little up the drive and it starts to sputter to a stop. hey , it can happen , i hope you find out whats wrong. other thing is are your carb settings correct, did you set them or open them to specs. good luck, doc
