After removing the left trumpet to replace the lower right link that was leaking. There is a brass bushing that has a diameter of about 1" diameter. I can not find it in my old parts manual. Anybody know a number for this bushing and how to remove the old one.

Also after replacing the right lower link that was leaking I tightened it up with a new pin. I did not put anything in the hole as the old hole was not worn and it was tight after I torqued it to 150 ft-lbs. Some old post that I saw talked about a gasket for this pin and maybe putting some sealant in the hole. I do not want to take the trumpet off again for a leaking pin.Do I need to do anything for sealing the pin other than torqueing it to 150 ft-lbs?
Thanks,
Alex

If you are talking about the brake cross shaft bushing - it is a samll brass bushing that is pressed into the tranny housing that the ball on the brake cross shaft slips into. This bushing is part number 78-2477 and I purchased two from a certain N parts dealer in NC, but am sure the great people that sell parts on this board have them as well. Mine were so worn I pulled them out with a pair of needle nose pliers, and one side I had to build up the cast iron with JB Weld before I could press the new one in, as the bushing had been worn clean through for quite some time.

Good luck,
Dan

Same thing when I replaced mine. I thought it was really cool that they even had the "Ford" logo on those bushings! wow. Now, my left brake works great, but my right cross shaft is tight and sticking due to excessive tightness in the bushing and i'm NOT going to pull the axle off just to trim a bushing so i guess i'll just have to live with it until it loosens up. If you replace yours, do a dry fit first and make adjustments as needed before you seal everything up.

Alex..... ....ONLY the 2N/9N lower link uses a straight sided pin with an external lower link support plate and gasket. 8N/NAA's use a tapered pin scheme and no external support plate. Unless your lower link pin trumpet hole is "wallered out", you should NOT NEED any additional sealant, just torque to 150 ft/lbs and re-cotter key the castelated internal pin nut..... .....Dell

Don't forget that on the 9N/2N at least (not sure about the 8N) that there's a gasket that goes between the plate and the trumpet housing itself. Don't want to forget about that one, either.
