Tire care and info needed

I Just got two new rims, tires, and tubes for my 52 8N. The last set of rear tires I have had for 30 years and thet still held air but were starting to go bad. I noticed the rims are not the same as I had. The new ones have places where the disk goes on while the old one had a rim all the way around. I guess this is OK?

The tires are 6 ply and made in Rominia. The dealer said they are good. The tires have a "wavy" area inside from here the lugs are cast on the tire. Again I assume these will work?

The main question is preserving the tires as long as I can. Is there some material (Armor All, etc.)
that will help protect the tires for a long time as well as keeping them out of the Sun? Also on mounting what is the best way to mount the rear tires to keep them from getting damages as well as the rims?

Alex..... ....wow, yer last set of tires lasted 30 years and you replaced'em 'cuz theys gittin' gray and weather checked? Just think about where you'll be in another 30 years, I wouldn't worry about it. (grin)

Heres the deal, modern rubber formula is so much better than 30 years ago even if made in Rominia. And yes, you can find "cosmetic" tire protection chemicals but why bother? Bettcha 10 years from now yer tires gonna look just like they were new, even without chemical coatings.

As for the rims, yer old OEM rims are called "hat-section" and have value to nutty "originality restorers". I much prefer the not likely to rustout flower petal scallop rims..... ...Dell

Wow.. I never replace tractor tires if they are still holding air!

Mounting? I'd use a vegetable soap.. or tire soap/grease.. no silicone or petro stuff as it can degrade the tube.

If you have a place to park it out of the sun.. that is probably the best thing you can do. Also.. if you let it set dormant ofr a season.. like when you are on vacation.. there is a procedure in one of the manuals for 'puttin ghte tractor up.. and I think it talks about jacking the tractor up to take load off the tires.. etc.

Not sure about any 'wipe or spray on' materials.. I know they make the tires 'look' nice.. but not sure they help.. I've heard that some tire shines may hurt the tire in the long run.

I'm sure a few others will be by to post more ideas.. perhaps a tire man etc..

About putting Armour All on tires. Unless you plan on continuting to apply it, I would not do it. What has been my experience is, after it dries out, it looks worst than before and is a real PITA to clean up. In fact, I quit using the stuff on my dash board in the cars. Just gets ugly after awhile in the sun.

However,, if you are showing the tractor and not using it,, go ahead..
