I have a 52 8N with a sherman step up/down trans and was wondering how the heck you check, fill or replace the gear lube in it. I know it has a drain plug but no access to this either. Does anyone know? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Pete..... ...yer not gonnna believe this, but yer main tranny has a component called an "oil-slinger" and while its original job was to keep the tranny front seal from being overlubed, when they pull the front drive gear out to replace it with the "Sherman" drivegear, the OIL-SLINGER now pumps the Sherman OVERFULL of tranny oil. When the tractor is turned off, all the excess Sherman oil drains back into the main tranny thru the spaces in the bearings.

Therefore, you don't haffta worry about eather filling yer Sherman, or changing yer Sherman oil. Clever, eh?..... .....Dell
