I was just given this trans. and I believe it is a step-up but not sure if it is a step-down. I want a step down. Any help is appreciated.

BTW: I've looked at and searched all the main N sites (here, Smith's, etc.). Still unclear if Sherman ever made a step-down with the cable. The Smith page advertises a replacement cable...

The bottom gear rail has 28 teeth on the large gear and 18 teeth on the bottom gear. I assume the gear reduction/increase is a function of this rail but it may be the output shaft (?).

Thanks,

Phil B.

Now you need to tell me how to do it... I searched the archives, tried putting the URL in the link box when entering the message but nada.

When linking a pic in the YT Gallery, you need to either:
A) put the page link in the "Optional Link URL" box and a title in the "Link Title" box.

OR

B) put your cursor on the actual photo, right click, click "properties". Then use your mouse to highlight the URL found in that window. Right click it, click "copy". Now go back to your post and paste that URL to the "Optional Image URL" box.

I used method "B". If you use method "A" you'll get a link that folks can click to go to the picture. Method "B" puts the photo right in your post.

The URL you were using was for the page containing the picture. The URL for the picture itself is the one you find by right clicking on the photo and then clicking "properties".

Fortunately I printed all the reference stuff from Smith's and other sites. Upon further reading, the cable design only seems to appear on the step-up (?).

Anyone want a step-up Sherman for a reasonable price?
