Read the article Dell suggested. Great for steps to follow. If you do not have compressed air, use carb cleaner from local auto store. Use the little "straw" which comes with the can to help clean out the inside passages, fits just right in them holes. Good luck. David

I have rebuilt 4 carbs now in as many months (I get used cores and clean them up for practice). I use Chem-Tool carb dip, it comes in a gallon can with a dip basket. Take everything apart, and soak it overnight. Then, rinse real good with water, dry completely, I then blow out all the passages with compressed air (using eye protection). Then I spray a light coat of WD-40 and let it soak in overnight. After that, I put in a complete rebuild kit with new jets, and I am done. It is really quite enjoyable to me.

Good luck,
Dan

I got some stuff at the auto parts store that GUNK made. It is great!!!!. It is about a quart size with a basket. You put the parts in, move the basket up and down for about 30 secound and then rinse the parts in water. Man, this stuff is great. I don't know if you can still get it but try!! yellow can, made by GUNK.

Hello all,

Been wondering this myself. Could one take the carb to a radiator shop and have it hot dipped? Isn't there a dip vat for fuel tanks? Jsut curious.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

Ron..... ...ya haffta remove the jets and PAY ATTENTION which goes where, they're externally interchangeable.

Ya haffta use "gun-smithing" type, hollow ground screwdrivers so you don't waller out the slotts of the jets with regular tapered screwdrivers.

Our host, Yesterdays Tractors has an EXCELLENT M/S carb rebuild artical in their archives by Don Stewart.

Somepeople use a 1 gallon caustic dip buckett you can get at the autoparts store with built-in baskett. I use carb-cleaner with squirt'em straw as follow up..... ....Dell

I'd guess that the best method is a hot parts washer, but I don't have one. I just put the carb halves in a coffee can with plenty of carb cleaner and soak it at least over night before I go at it with the air gun.
