47 8N: Starts fine. Runs for about 1 minute, starts lurching. I checked the fuel flow, and everything is clean and clear. I tried replacing the coil, that doesn't help. The higher the RPM, the more lurching. It doesn't matter if the PTO is running or not, although if I push the clutch down, it helps a bit, but not enough so that I can do anything. Let the clutch out: it lurches. I am at a loss. HELP!

Kansas..... ...there are 4 common runtime issues with the squarecan 4-nipple frontmount ignition system on N-tractors.

1) runs for about 5 minutes and quits; clogged fuel filters; not your stated problem
2) runs for about 15 minutes and quits; gunked up ignition switch; not your stated problem
3) runs for about 1 hour and quits; restarts the next morning; BAD ignition coil; not your stated problem
4) runs for about 1 minute and quits; BAD condenser; sound like your stated problem?

Replace both your points and condenser. Condensers are known to be bad outta the box and iff'n the're bad, then the points are gonnna be burnt and be bad too.

Replacing your ignition points and condenser is a 15 minute 2-bolt finaggle on your kitchen table. Just unclip yer 4-nipple cap and leave it dangle on the sparkie wires. Remove the 2-bolts. The distributor is driven by an off-set tang scheme and can't be installed incorrectly. Just start the 2 bolts and gently rotate the rotor until it drops into the camshaft slot (you'll know). Tighen the 2-bolts and vola', Simple eh?..... ...Dell, the self-appointed sparkie-meister

Check the fuel flow again.. pull the bottom plug on the carb and let it drain into a jar.. need a good steady stream.. look for water also.

Will it start back up and run good for another minute after it has sat a few minutes?

For kicks.. bypass your ignition switch when it does this, if you find the fuel flow is ok.

Though it might be electrical.. I'll guess fuel delivery...
