Though the manual covers this completely.. including remove, teardown and rebuild, and reinstall.. etc.. here it goes:

Lube points for the steering... front spindled.. tie rod and draglink ends.. wheel bearings and the steering box itself.

That will be a new style box, so the 'add' hole will be under one of the cap screws holding the battery box onto the stering box.. it will be the top right one on the right side. You can cjeck it with a piece of flexible wire once you pull the bolt out.

I use one of those 1quart lube bottles that has the cut-to-fit nipples on it, and a piece of rubber tubing.. Just about any gear lube you want to use is fine... 80w90 85/140... probably the rear diffy 90wt mineral oil would work in a pinch..
For those that have leaky seals.. some use a pourable grease.. like cornhead grease, or marine outboard lube... thinner than grease.. thicker than oil...
Squeeze full and then cap off.

One thing though... once it gets hard to steer.. damage may have already been done.. hopefully it is just binding due to no lube and yo have caught it in time.

Lube all points, and also take this time to jack up the front and adjust sector backlash with the adjustment studs. Some of the N's had a screy in the hollow outter tube covering the steering shaft.. you can also dribble some oil down in there to help lube the top bearing... I'm not refering to the blind steering shaft itself.. just the big hollow tube sourounding it..

That is some of the best information I have seen on the 8N.

Thanks, Zane
